Background: This is what is called a mini-site. The
purpose of this site is to capture leads and convert them into
a customers. This site sells a single product. It is basically
a single page sales letter with supporting articles to support
search engine ranking and optimization as well as a large number
of testimonials to support the sales effort.
Strategy: To determine what copy and headlines would
pull the best responses. Position the product as an all natural
solution for their niche market and take a two stage process
of promotion.
Tactics: First we wrote and tested serveral sales letters
and tested them through email marketing. After finding the
one that pulled the most sales (know in the industry as our "control
piece") we settled on that copy for the "home" sales
page of the site.
We used powerful copywriting tactics to both convert a high
rate of visitors to customers but also employ a strong opt-in
lead capture system because even the best conversion rate still
means the vast majority of visitors leave your site and do
not purchase. Since it is a proven fact that it takes 5 or
more contacts for 70% of all sales to occur, we wanted to be
able to follow up with the visitors once they left the site
to make our 5 or more contact to close the sale.
We developed a shopping cart/ecommerce system to not only
process orders by credit card, checks and paypal; we also wrote
a series of email follow up for the autoresponders to send
out automatically without the mangement having to do anything.
This automatic system of follow up is outstanding for milking
the last dollar, yen or frank out of the prospect list generated
by the optin report.
Since the company is willing to ship their product worldwide,
the international aspects of the copy, through to final transaction
and followup had to be considered. The company and web site
have a strong international following.
After and extensive email campaign to generate a base of customers
and test and retest all the systems, we were employed to do
a high level search engine optimization campaign that is monitored
and maintenanced on a monthly basis. This optimization has
resulted in almost 100 top 10 rankings on the major serach
engines and several dozen #1 positions for certain
keyphrases as of the time of this writing.
More than 50 articles were written (using our proprietary
formula) and placed on the site targeted at keyphrases that
were researched to deliver traffic to the site. The articles
act as "searach engine food" and they eat it up like
crazy drawing traffic which is then funneled to the "sales
page" after being "pre-sold" on finding a solution
to their problem.
A strategic reciprocal linking program was developed where
150 link partners signed a one year agreement to maintain our
links on their sites (and vice versa).
This is an ongoing long-term contract.
